EXCLUSIVE: Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa contestant Gashmeer Mahajani reveals he professionally danced 15 years ago; says, "I want to dance on 'Choli Ke Peeche Kya Hai', male version"
Imlie star Gashmeer Mahajani, known to portray the role of Aditya Deshmukh, may have returned to Marathi cinema. But now, the actor will be seen in a new role on Indian television. He will be seen as the contestant of the celebrity dance show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Season 10. The show will return after a five-year hiatus with Madhuri Dixit, Karan Johar, and Nora Fatehi as the judges. Speaking exclusively to Bollywood Hungama, Gashmeer Mahajani spoke about his past experience with dancing, what being in this reality show means, and the songs he would like to perform on.
In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Gashmeer Mahajani revealed that what being in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 10 means to him. He said, “It means getting better with every passing performance.” He went on to explain what dance means to him adding, “It means expressing with your body.” In the same interview, he also mentioned that he has past experience with professional dancing. He said, “Yes I have been a professional dancer in the past although it was very little and that too, about 15 years back.”
When asked if he was nervous about performing in front of top Bollywood dancers like Madhuri Dixit and Nora Fatehi, the Imlie actor confessed that he is nervous about everyone. He shared, “Yes and not just the, I am nervous about performing in front of everyone including the general audience.” Talking about the Madhuri Dixit, Nora Fatehi, and Karan Johar songs he would love to perform on stage, Gashmeer revealed, he wants to perform on ‘Choli ke Peeche Kya Hai’ – Male Version (Khalnayak in 1993), ‘Naach Meri Rani’ (Album by Guru Randhawa, 2020), ‘Koi Mil Gaya’ (Kuch Kuch Hota Hai in 1998).
He also maintained that he is not afraid of any judges’ criticism or comments because he believes that it will help him learn more. “I'm not afraid of their comments. I'm looking forward to their comments all three of them because it will be a learning experience,” he shared.
Gashmeer Mahajani also spoke about how he bonded with his choreographer Romsha Singh saying, “There was nothing to break there was no ice at all. We are very warm people,” he concluded.
