Kapil Sharma admits on his Netflix show that he got angry at the Star Channel team for cutting Rs. 3.10 lakhs TDS from his 'The Great Indian Laughter Challenge' prize money

Kapil Sharma revealed that it was in 2007 that he participated in ‘The Great Indian Laughter Challenge’ and won. He was given a prize of Rs. 10 lakhs. Kapil even showed the winners cheque to everyone in the audience and admitted that he had laminated it and kept it in his house.

Kapil Sharma then confessed that when the Rs. 10 lakh cheque was encashed in the bank, only Rs. 6.90 lakhs were credited into his account. The balance Rs. 3.10 lakhs were deducted in the name of TDS (Tax Deducted at Source).

Kapil Sharma said that he was not aware of this concept. Hence, he got enraged at the Star channel team. He complained to them and asked where the rest of the money was. When they explained to him that it was cut for TDS purposes, Kapil asked them, “Kisse puch ke kaata?” The management then told him that TDS automatically is cut and one does not need anyone’s permission for it!

On a serious note, Kapil Sharma also said that he believed that his father, after passing away, played the role of the guardian angel and guided him into coming to Mumbai and winning the ‘The Great Indian Laughter Challenge’.
