#2021Recap: 11 WORST Endings in Bollywood films this year (SPOILERS AHEAD)
1. 12 “O” Clock
This was one of the first theatrical releases of 2021 and was about a family trying to free their daughter from a ghost that had possessed her. Based on the recommendation of a noted psychiatrist and a top cop, her family set her ablaze in a na-rahegi-baas-na-bajegi-basuri arrangement in the climax. Nobody realized that it’s not a foolproof way and that the ghost can easily jump into someone else’s body. We did not have expectations from a Ram Gopal Varma film anyway but in this case, we hoped for something better since he’s made so many horror films in the past.
2. The Girl On The Train
The ending was from the original flick and the novel as director Ribhu Dasgupta added a double twist. The attempt didn’t really work because the original, second twist was flawed and riddled with cinematic liberties.
3. Roohi
The second half of this film was promising. However, we couldn’t believe our eyes when the climax unfolded. No wonder that the finale was rejected unanimously.
4. Koi Jaane Na
This was supposed to a suspense thriller. And surely, it shocked us not because of the suspense but because of the lack of common sense in the script. Our heart went out to the talented Atul Kulkarni who had to play such a part in this poorly made and written film.
5. 99 Songs
The climax of the film shows the song composed by the protagonist went viral and took the world by storm, and not just India. It was difficult to digest this aspect and moreover the track of the Chief Minister added to the bizarre quotient.
6. Hum Bhi Akele Tum Bhi Akele
We were really enjoying this one and this film could have been the big surprise of the year. However, the depressing ending ruined the whole impact.
7. Haseen Dillruba
The writing was clever and most viewers couldn’t guess the finale. However, we wished the ending was predictable because what made it to the film was disturbing and gave us sleepless nights.
8. Hungama 2
The film was bad from the start and the twist in the climax didn’t impress viewers. Also, Akshaye Khanna’s haggard and disinterested looks ruined the experience.
9. Chehre
The film was going great until Amitabh Bachchan began his long monologue. If you expected it to be on the lines of ‘No Means No’ a la Pink (2016), you were mistaken. The monologue was never-ending and not really connected to the film’s premise.
10. Shiddat
Much of the second half was riddled with cinematic liberties and the same applied for the climax where the protagonist conveniently slipped into the wheel well of the aeroplane without anyone noticing.
11. Hum Do Hamare Do
The film rested on a great plot but suffered due to poor writing and dialogues. On top of it, the climax was hurried and one never understood how Manu Rishi Chadha, who was dead against her daughter marrying a liar, was persuaded to change his mind.
