20 Years of Dil Chahta Hai: Preity Zinta recalls how Farhan Akhtar reacted when she said it will be a cult film on the first day of shoot

Today marks 20 years of the release of one of the most celebrated onscreen friendship films - Dil Chahta Hai. The film which marked Farhan Akhtar’s directorial debut has turned out to be a cult film. Every aspect of the film, from its dialogues to songs to emotions is fondly remembered by fans even today. The film starred Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Akshaye Khanna, Preity Zinta, and Dimple Kapadia in pivotal roles.

To mark 20 years of the film, Preity Zinta took to her social media handle and penned a heartfelt note remembering the shoot days. She revealed that she had told Farhan that DCH will be a cult film and all Farhan did was laugh back then.

"This is surreal, celebrating #20YearsOfDilChahtaHai. I remember Farhan telling me that whenever he makes a film, he would love for me to be a part of it. A few months later, we signed on for Dil Chahta Hai and we had so much fun on set," she wrote sharing a montage from the film.

"I told @FarOutAkhtar on d first day of shoot, that this will be a cult film & he laughed at me. Today after all these years I’m so proud of the film we made. I have so many fond memories from d shoot & always have a big smile on my face when I remember those mad days. Thank you to everyone at @excelmovies & to the cast n crew for making this film into such an incredible experience for all of us," she added.
