EXCLUSIVE: “I just want some kind of a climax”- Ram Gopal Varma gives an update on his film on Arnab Goswami
In August 2020, Ram Gopal Varma took to his Twitter handle and in a series of tweets announced that he will be making a film on news anchor and editor-in-chief of Republic TV Arnab Goswami. He said that film will be titled Arnab -The News Prostitute. In his tweets, he had expressed his anger towards Goswami while explaining why he wants to make a film on him. At the time, Varma was reacting to the news debates around Sushant Singh Rajput's demise and the bad light put on Bollywood as a whole.
While he had announced back then the film will be out in November 2020, there has been no update so far. Recently, in an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Ram Gopal Varma spoke about the delay in the making of the film. “The real Arnab Goswami is going fast. I think it is far exceeding my script. By the time I catch up with him; I just want some kind of a climax. In other words, what I am saying is that his real-life thing is far more interesting than what I am trying to write,” he said.
“I mean to say the amount of films he makes on Republic TV. They all are looking far more interesting than what I want to make on him. So I just slowed down a bit. But I will make it,” he further explained.
Meanwhile, on the work front, RGV recently launched his own OTT platform called Spark and the first film to stream on the platform is his latest release D Company. D Company starring Ashwat Kanth, Pranay Dixit, Naina Ganguly, and Irra Mor, is the story of how a street gang in Mumbai headed by Dawood Ibrahim rose to become the world’s most dangerous criminal organization.
